Adopt-A-School Program

Adopt-A-School The Angels began the second year of the Adopt-A-School program in January of 2009 by adopting five local elementary schools and five local high schools. The ten schools were chosen on a need basis as well as on their proximity to Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The 2009 Adopt-A-School class includes two schools from each level in Anaheim, one from each level in Orange, one from each level in Garden Grove and one from each level in Santa Ana.

Adopted elementary schools have received a $1,000 grant to go toward the schools' reading or literacy programs and a school supplies pack for every student (complete with pencils, erasers, mini-rulers and a pencil sharpener) from the Angels Baseball Foundation. Angles players, broadcasters, Alumni and the Angels Strike Force are in the process of visiting each of the elementary schools for a school-wide assembly. They encourage the students to work hard, read and stay in school.

Adopted high schools received a $2,500 grant to assist their softball and baseball programs. Some schools used the money to go toward new equipment while others chose to have it go toward field and/or facility renovation.

Each of the schools received 100 tickets for the May 27th game when the Angels host the Chicago White Sox. One representative from each of the ten adopted schools will also be honored during an on-field pre-game ceremony on May 27th.

The Angels are proud to recognize the second class of adopted schools:
