Torii Hunter Field

The Angels' Torii Hunter showed he has just as much talent off the diamond as he does on it when he joined the Angels Baseball Foundation and Magical Builders on September 12th at the Grand Opening Day for Torii Hunter Field at Kraemer Memorial Park in Placentia. The youth softball field was constructed largely through monetary donations from Hunter, the Angels Baseball Foundation, as well as in-kind services of dozens of local companies and volunteers.

The $500,000 project was led by Magical Builders, a non-profit organization founded by Jon and Christy Frank dedicated to renovating and improving community facilities across the country to benefit the lives of underprivileged children. The neighborhood where Torii Hunter Field is located is home to many underprivileged, minority children who have never had the opportunity to play organized baseball and softball. The field will directly benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brea-Placentia-Yorba Linda while also serving as a home to the Angels RBI League. The field will also be utilized for numerous other youth programs throughout the local community.

During the ceremony, Hunter spoke to the crowd about the importance of baseball in his life and how proud he was to be able to participate in the project. After a brief ceremony thanking project partners and fans in attendance, Hunter signed autographs and posed for pictures at the new field's Home Plate. Later, fans were treated to a ballpark-inspired lunch that included the opportunity to interact with Angels Alumni and members of the Angels Strike Force.

Matt Bennett, Community Relations Manager for the Angels noted, "The Angels Baseball Foundation has enjoyed working with Magical Builders and all of the parties involved who have helped make the Torii Hunter field project possible. We're excited to see this field project come together. We hope that it will be a great resource for this community for many years to come and that it will give the children a safe and fun place to play."

Come check out Torii Hunter Field! The field is located in Kraemer Memorial Park: on the southwest corner of Walnut Ave. and Chapman Ave. next to City of Placentia's Kraemer Clubhouse, 116 North Walnut Ave., Placentia, CA 92870.
