ThinkCure! is an innovative, community-based non-profit organization that raises funds for collaborative research aimed at finding a cure for cancer. Our vision is to bring Southern Californians together to work towards a common cause to cure children and adults with cancer. Our partners and beneficiaries, City of Hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles, are two of the leading cancer research institutions.
Since our inception we have worked with Dodger fans towards a common cause - to cure children and adults with cancer. We have granted over 1.5 Million dollars to cancer research, funding collaborative and innovative projects with Children's Hospital Los Angeles and City of Hope. We are calling on everyone in our community to get involved and make a difference in our fight against cancer.
Even if we don't quite know exactly what the cure will look like, victory is within our reach. Today, more than 11.1 million people in the United States are living with a previous diagnosis of cancer, far higher than the 3 million who were cancer survivors in 1971. For children, the statistics are even brighter: 30 years ago, about half of children with cancer were cured; today, 90% are cured.
So here's how we decided to try to make a difference: We raise the money, and then we turn it over to the researchers to work collaboratively to make important discoveries and find cures. Researchers, who are based at City of Hope in Duarte and Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, leverage their expertise in fields that are crucial to modern cancer research, and collaborate to better understand and treat brain tumors, leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma and other cancers.
Through its grant making process, ThinkCure! is helping Los Angeles area cancer researchers to set an example that the whole region could someday follow-medical advancement through true teamwork.
