Morales pads stats as Angels romp
Four-hit day takes first baseman's spring average to .397

Saturday, March 28 Angels at the plate: In a four-hit day that raised his Cactus League average to .397, Kendry Morales launched his third homer, doubled, singled twice and was hit by a pitch, driving in three runs. Howie Kendrick bombed a two-run homer, his second, and had a sacrifice fly and a walk. Torii Hunter crushed his third homer in two games, to dead center, and singled and scored. Chone Figgins delivered three singles, driving in a run and stealing his seventh base. Erick Aybar tripled, doubled, singled twice and walked while driving in three. Mariners at the plate: Reegie Corona hit a solo homer, his first of the spring, to right field, and singled and scored. Chris Woodward stroked a pair of RBI doubles. Endy Chavez singled twice, stole a base and scored a run. Mike Sweeney singled twice, driving in a run. Mike Wilson had an RBI double and a walk, and Rob Johnson doubled and walked, scoring twice. Jeff Clement delivered a two-run double, making it 10-9 in the eighth. Angels on the mound: Starter Matt Palmer went 2 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk, hitting a batter while striking out three. Brian Fuentes gave up an earned run on two hits in one inning, striking out two men. Scot Shields pitched a scoreless inning, walking two and striking out one. Working for the second consecutive day, Kevin Jepsen yielded a run on one hit and a walk, striking out one. Mariners on the mound: Carlos Silva was knocked around, surrendering 11 hits and nine runs, eight earned, in 3 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two. Miguel Batista went 1 2/3 innings, yielding two hits and a walk. Cesar Jimenez pitched a perfect seventh inning. Cactus League records: Angels 22-5-1; Mariners 14-14-2 Up next: The Angels travel to Surprise on Sunday to face the Rangers at 1:05 p.m. PT. Right-hander Sean O'Sullivan is scheduled to make the start against Rangers right-hander Brandon McCarthy. O'Sullivan is 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in five Cactus League innings. Scheduled to follow O'Sullivan to the mound are Jose Arredondo, Darren Oliver and Jason Bulger. Vladimir Guerrero missed Saturday's game with an eye infection, and it is not known if he'll be ready to go on Sunday. Guerrero, recovering from offseason right knee surgery, has had 18 plate appearances and has begun to hammer the ball in familiar style.
