Hunter denies interest in return to Twins

ANAHEIM -- Angels outfielder Torii Hunter laughed Tuesday when asked about recent reports saying that he would like to end his career with the Twins.

Hunter, who was the Twins' first pick in the 1993 First-Year Player Draft and spent 11 seasons playing for the Twins before joining the Angels as a free agent last season, said he loved his time in Minnesota but that he's an Angel now.

"They asked me, and I said, 'Why not?'" said Hunter of the questions asked by local newspaper reporters when the Angels played at the Metrodome last weekend. "That was the place I grew up with, so why not consider that? But at the same time, I'm home. I'm having fun here."

Hunter signed a five-year, $90 million deal that will keep him in Anaheim until after the 2012 season. By then, Hunter will already be 37 years old, and that's why he said he doesn't know what will happen after his current contract expires.

"That's a long way away," Hunter said. "I don't know where my career will take me."
