Red Sox ace Josh Beckett was named the Bank of America American League Player of the Week on Monday for the period ending July 12.

Beckett, who is currently at the All-Star Game in St. Louis, won both of his starts last week, allowing nine hits and two runs in 15 2/3 innings with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

He defeated Oakland on July 7 and pitched a three-hit complete game shutout for his 100th career win on July 12 against Kansas City. The two-time All-Star is 11-3, 3.35 in 18 starts in 2009.
