ANAHEIM -- Angels center fielder Torii Hunter was struck on the left hand on Saturday by a fastball from Seattle's Felix Hernandez in the bottom of the first inning at Angel Stadium.

At nearby Chapman Hospital, X-rays on Hunter's hand were negative for a fracture. He is day-to-day with a soft tissue contusion.

Hunter remained in the game and ran the bases, but was replaced by Reggie Willits when the Angels went out for the top of the second inning behind Jered Weaver.

It was a 2-2 count on Hunter, Bobby Abreu having stolen second base after singling, when Hernandez came up and in with a fastball and Hunter was unable to get out of the way in time.

It was the second time this season Hunter has been hit by a pitch. The Angels' cleanup man is batting .272 with seven homers and 29 RBIs.
