City of Ferris, Texas awarded $100,000 by The Baseball Tomorrow Fund
Grant Supported the Renovation of Two Youth Baseball Fields at Mutz Park. Field Dedication Ceremony to Be Held on Tuesday, February 28.
The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) awarded the City of Ferris, Texas a grant in the amount of $100,000 to provide funding for the renovation of two youth baseball fields located at Mutz Park.
To celebrate the completion of the renovation, the city will dedicate the fields located at East Tenth Street and Park Avenue on Tuesday, February 28 at 4:00 pm. CT. Meghan Chisholm, Senior Grant Coordinator for the Baseball Tomorrow Fund, will participate in the festivities, along with Ferris Mayor Rick Barrett, City Council Members Dr. James Starr, Carol Wright, Gary Ross, Jay Walsh, Michael Driggars, and former City Council Members, Bill Dunn and Bill Pardue.
The renovated fields will serve the Ferris Baseball & Softball Association (FBSA) and support its initiative to expand programs to 280 boys and girls. The completion of the project will facilitate the creation of a fall baseball league and will allow FBSA to become the North Ellis County hub for a Challenger Division for children with disabilities. In addition, FBSA will offer a junior girls summer softball tournament for 13-15 year olds.

The renovation of the fields is a positive step toward additional opportunities to engage the community youth in the game, and we are pleased to be a part of this effort,” said Cathy Bradley, Executive Director of the Baseball Tomorrow Fund.

The Baseball Tomorrow Fund (BTF) is designed to promote the growth of youth baseball and softball throughout the world by awarding grants to support field renovation and construction projects, equipment and uniform purchases, coaches training material and other selected program expenses. Since its formation by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association in 1999, BTF has awarded approximately 600 grants totaling more than $21 million to non-profit and tax-exempt organizations in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Approximately 300,000 youth players have benefited from programs and facilities supported by the fund. BTF also facilitates league-wide initiatives including the collection and distribution of new and gently used equipment to organizations in need as well as field maintenance education clinics.
