As the regular season comes to an end, the Cardinals will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Stan Musial's last regular season game with the team in a special pre-game ceremony. Musial played 22 seasons with the Cardinals, had a lifetime batting mark of .331, 475 home runs, 3630 hits and, most importantly, was the heart and soul of the team - a personal embodiment of the Cardinals Way. More than 27,500 fans turned out to see the last of Stan's 1,434 regular-season games at the old ballpark at Grand and Dodier on Sunday, September 29, 1963. The team hosted a special pre-game ceremony to honor Stan. Musial left the game in the 6th inning after collecting his final hit (1,815th at home - perfect symmetry to his 1,815 hits on the road) and RBI (1,951).

Six for 6: From pre-game through the 6th inning, the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum will have a special exhibit in Ford Plaza celebrating the 50th anniversary of Stan Musial's final MLB game. Six items will be on display from Musial's final game including his last hit ball and final game jersey.

Cardinals in the Community

Cardinals Care was established to give fans a way of teaming up with Cardinals players and the Cardinals organization to help children in our community - both on and off the baseball field. Since it was established in 1997, Cardinals Care has invested nearly $19 million in helping children, including providing nearly $11 million in grants to over 800 non-profit youth organizations, and building 20 youth ball fields in neighborhoods in both Missouri and Illinois.

Cardinals Care's Redbird Rookies program, a free league for boys and girls who otherwise might not have the opportunity to play baseball, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2013. In addition to providing all the uniforms, gloves, bats, balls, and other equipment needed for each team in over 20 leagues in Missouri and Illinois, Redbird Rookies also provides extensive off-field support in the areas of health, education, mentoring, and the cultural arts for each of the nearly 4,500 kids who participate in the program each year.
