ANAHEIM -- The Angels Tuesday agreed to terms on a 2007 contract (with a club option for 2008) with Amaury Pi-Gonzalez as the club's Spanish radio play-by-play announcer. Gonzalez will team with Jose Mota to form the Angels' Spanish radio broadcast team on AM 830. This announcement was made by Club President Dennis Kuhl.

Pi-Gonzalez has over 30 years of on-air broadcasting experience, most recently working as the Spanish play-by-play voice with the San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners broadcast teams. He joined the Mariners in 2003 after eight seasons as the Giants Spanish play-by-play voice, and 17 years broadcasting for the Oakland A's prior to that.

Born in Cuba, Amaury was inducted into the Cuban Sports Hall Of Fame February 8, 2004 under the category of Sports Broadcasting. In addition to handling the play-by-play duties for all Golden State Warriors games for seven years, Pi-Gonzalez was the sports anchor at Telemundo in San Jose from 1990-1994.

A multi-sport broadcaster, who has covered the World Series, MLB playoffs, the Super Bowl, boxing, basketball and soccer for Spanish Radio, Amaury has been nominated for the Ford Frick Award for the broadcasters wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Pi-Gonzalez moved to Florida in 1961 to attend the University of Miami and broadcast on Miami's WWFB Radio. Pi-Gonzalez and his wife Gail are parents of two sons, Jonathan and Geoffrey.
