Angels announce 2007 Opening Day roster

ANAHEIM -- The Angels Saturday finalized their 2007 Opening Day roster in an announcement made by club vice president/general manager Bill Stoneman.
Right-handed pitchers Alex Serrano and Matt Wilhite and outfielder Curtis Pride were reassigned to Minor League camp. Right-handed pitcher Chris Resop, catcher Jeff Mathis, infielder Kendry Morales and outfielder Nick Gorneault were optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. Right-handed pitcher Chris Bootcheck had his contract selected from Salt Lake.
Five Angels' players will begin the season on the disabled list (retroactive to March 23):
RHP Bartolo Colon (15-day -- Recovery from strained right Latissimus Dorsi muscle.
INF Chone Figgins (15-day) -- Fractured index and middle fingers on right hand.
INF Dallas McPherson (60-day) -- Recovery from lower back surgery.
OF Juan Rivera (15-day) -- Broken left lower leg.
RHP Jered Weaver (15-day) -- Recovery from right biceps tendinitis.

PITCHERS (11): Chris Bootcheck (RHP), Hector Carrasco (RHP), Kelvim Escobar (RHP), John Lackey (RHP), Dustin Moseley (RHP), Darren Oliver (LHP), Francisco Rodriguez (RHP), Ervin Santana (RHP), Joe Saunders (LHP), Scot Shields (RHP), Justin Speier (RHP).
CATCHERS (2): Jose Molina, Mike Napoli.
INFIELDERS (7): Erick Aybar, Orlando Cabrera, Shea Hillenbrand, Maicer Izturis, Howie Kendrick, Robb Quinlan, Casey Kotchman.
OUTFIELDERS (5): Garret Anderson, Vladimir Guerrero, Gary Matthews, Jr., Tommy Murphy, Reggie Willits.
The Angels will open the 2007 season against the Texas Rangers on Monday, April 2, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim (7:05 pm PT start).
