Angels request unconditional release waivers on Shea Hillenbrand
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

ANAHEIM -- The Angels Monday requested unconditional release waivers on infielder Shea Hillenbrand in an announcement made by club Vice President/General Manager Bill Stoneman. The Angels had designated Hillenbrand for assignment on June 29.

Hillenbrand, 31, batted .254 (50/197) with 19 runs scored, five doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI in 53 game with the Angels in 2007. He was signed as a free agent, Dec. 26, 2006.

Originally selected by Boston in the 10th round of the 1996 free agent draft, Hillenbrand owns a lifetime .285 average (997/3500) with 107 home runs and 481 RBI in 923 games. He has appeared in the Major Leagues with the Red Sox (2001-03), Diamondbacks (2003-04), Blue Jays (2005-06), Giants (2006) and Angels (2007). He has appeared in two All-Star Games for the American League in 2002 and 2005.
