BOCA RATON, Fla -- The editorial board of Minor League News, in conjunction with its release of the fourth annual MLN FAB50 Baseball 2007 rankings of the best players for talent and ability to move within their organization, have named the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at the 2007 MLN Farm System of the Year. The award is given annually to the Major League club with the highest tally of fast-track picks in the MLN FAB50 Baseball rankings and the MLN Ones2Watch list of players in the lower ranks coming on to the radar.

This year, the Halos led all other Major League organizations with four FAB50 picks which included:

3B Brandon Wood of the Salt Lake Bees (11th), RHP Nick Adenhart of the Arkansas Travelers (20th), OF Terry Evans with the Bees (28th), and RHP Nick Green with the Travs (42nd).

Wood finished third overall at third behind No. 1 pick Evan Longoria of the Montgomery Biscuits and Billy Butler of the Omaha Royals.

In its third year, past winners of the MLN Farm System of the Year include the Boston Red Sox (2005) ( http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20050824&content_id=1182016&vkey=pr_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos>%20&content_id=1182016&vkey=pr_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (2006).

The players were selected by the editorial board of Minor League News (MLN) for the FAB50 rankings which appear in the current issue of MLN Sports Zone (SZ) ( http://www.mlnsportszone.com ), the nation's oldest four-sport news magazine dedicated to minor league and independent professional sports. A talent and movement ranking, players are selected not only for their ability, but for their ability to move up the depth charts of their respective major league farm systems. The board uses notes acquired during our annual Spring Training reports, along with extensive interviews of players, managers, farm directors, coaches and other experts to arrive at the mid-season rankings of players. The FAB50 runs after the June draft and far enough into the year to get a real read on both the player's performance, long-term injuries in the organization, and changes in organizational charts resulting from the draft.

"The Angels have one of the best farm systems in baseball," said MLN senior editor Brian Ross. "They are both rich in developing talent, and they have the good fortune to be able to make use of these gifted players in development."

This year's FAB50 features 17" photo layouts with each player's feature article, video clips on selected player honor/bio pages, and some of the best writing from the veteran beat writers of local and regional sports.
