ANAHEIM -- The Angels Thursday announced right-handed pitcher Chris Resop was claimed off outright waivers by the Atlanta Braves. This announcement was made by Angels General Manager Tony Reagins.

Resop, 24, split the 2007 season between triple-A Salt Lake and the Angels. He was 1-3 with a 4.57 ERA (45.1 IP - 23 ER) in 27 relief appearances with Salt Lake. Resop allowed 50 hits (4 HR), walked 16 and struck out 39 in that span. He was recalled by the Angels July 3 and posted a 0-0 record and 4.15 ERA (4.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 SO) in four games. Resop was placed on the 15-day disabled list July 13 (retroactive to July 9) due to bone spur surgery on his right elbow and remained on the DL the rest of the season.

Resop was acquired by the Angels from Florida Nov. 20, 2006 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Kevin Gregg. He owns a lifetime 3-2 record and 5.48 ERA (42.2 IP - 26 ER) in 41 games. Resop has appeared in the Major Leagues with the Marlins (2005-06) and the Angels (2007).

A native of Naples, FL, Resop was originally selected by Florida in the fourth round of the 2001 free agent draft.
