Orange County, CA -- Orange County United Way and Angels Baseball Foundation have teamed up to host WALK UNITED on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Angels Stadium in Anaheim. The walk is expected to draw more than two thousand Orange County residents and will raise money for local education programs, children's charities and essential service programs offering food, shelter and medical care supported by Orange County United Way and Angels Baseball Foundation.

"These are tough times for many families and the increase in needs has made it difficult on community partners to meet the demands of families seeking the most basic needs," said Maria Chavez Wilcox, President of Orange County United Way. "By joining forces with Angels Baseball Foundation to help more families, everybody wins," added Wilcox. "By bringing the entire community together including business partners, friends, family and neighbors, we will be able to help more people get through these challenging times."

"We're very proud to be teamed with an organization that has done so many good things for our community," added Mark Merhab, Chairman of the Angels Baseball Foundation. "By leveraging our joint efforts, we can better assist the countless children and families in our area that so desperately need our help. We hope you'll join us at Angel Stadium on June 7th for this worthwhile cause."

WALK UNITED is a family-friendly 5K walk (3.1 miles) around Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The walk is paired with a resource fair featuring vendors and nonprofit partners. All participants will enjoy free entertainment and children can participate in free, fun-filled activities at the on-site kid's zone. Registered participants will receive a WALK UNITED t-shirt and the top fundraising individual and team will be awarded VIP tickets to an Angels game.

Individuals and teams can register for the walk by visiting www.walkunited.com. Individual registration is $25 and children ages 3 to 10 are $15 (under 3 are free). WALK UNITED sponsors include FOX Sports, LA Times, UPS, Wells Fargo and First American Corporation. Sponsorship opportunities and resource fair booth spaces are still available.
