Colon to make long-awaited return

Seattle (5-7) at Los Angeles (7-9), 6:05 p.m. PT

The Angels will play the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday night against the Seattle Mariners at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Bartolo Colon will take the mound for the first time since July for the Angels, now recovered from a torn right rotator cuff that plagued him last season.

Colon won the 2005 Cy Young Award with a 21-8 record for the Angels, but then he managed only 10 starts last season amid his shoulder troubles.

He has pitched well against the Mariners in his career, with a 10-8 mark.

The Mariners will counter with southpaw Horacio Ramirez, whom they acquired from Atlanta in a trade this past offseason for reliever Rafael Soriano.

Saturday's game will be only the second official start of the year for Ramirez because of the weather problems earlier this month that forced the postponement of an entire series in Cleveland and one game in Boston.

Ramirez pitched well in his lone start, limiting Texas to one earned run in six innings while defeating the Rangers.

Pitching matchup
SEA: LHP Horacio Ramirez (1-0, 1.50 ERA)
Ramirez is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his career against the Angels.

LAA: RHP Bartolo Colon (0-0, -. --)
Colon is 10-8 with a 4.32 ERA in his career against the Mariners.

Player to watch
Vladimir Guerrero is hitting .250 (2-for-8) against Ramirez in his career with two home runs.
