The Owlz, under the direction of longtime manager Tom Kotchman, have won four league titles since 2004, including their latest one this past season. The Angels' previous agreement with the Utah-based affiliate ran through the 2012 season.
"We are pleased to reach this extension and that the Orem Owlz baseball club will be an Angels affiliate through the 2014 season," Angels director of player development Abe Flores said in a statement. "The Angels believe the Orem franchise is the 'crown jewel' of the Pioneer League, and we value our strong relationship with the Owlz's ownership, front office and their supportive fans. The Angels look forward to more success in Orem, both on and off the field, in the years to come."
Kotchman, the father of former Angels first baseman Casey Kotchman, is entering his 27th season with the Halos organization and his 33rd in professional baseball.
Several Angels on the current 40-man roster played in Orem under Kotchman, including Trevor Bell, Peter Bourjos, Mark Trumbo, Chris Pettit and Sean O'Sullivan.
"We are excited about furthering our relationship with the Angels," Owls general manager Aaron Wells said in a statement. "They continually prove to be an organization committed to quality players on and off the field. That commitment has resulted in success at the Major League level, and we are pleased that success starts here in Orem."
