Celebrity Chef and Culinary Personality Jet Tila joins AM 830 KLAA for “The SoCal Restaurant Show”
(Anaheim, CA September 25, 2012) – AM 830 KLAA proudly announces a new weekend program with world renowned chef, Jet Tila. “The SoCal Restaurant Show,” the ultimate locals’ guide to food and restaurants, debuts on AM 830 KLAA Saturday, October 6th at 10:30 a.m. This live, fast-moving, 90-minute interactive show sharing Jet’s vast global food knowledge will be presented with a light and humorous edge. Substantive interviews with top celebrity chefs and entertaining culinary personalities will be part of the weekly fun.
Jet Tila is a nationally celebrated chef specializing in all styles of Asian cuisine. As a boy, he learned the ancient traditions of classical Asian food from spending time in his family’s Southern California restaurants and at the Bangkok Market, America’s first Thai Grocery Store and Importer in Hollywood. In 2008, Chef Tila unveiled his prized, multi-million dollar creation, the highly acclaimed Pan-Asian restaurant Wazuzu, at Steve Wynn’s Encore luxury resort in Las Vegas. A few months after opening, Wazuzu was named on Conde Nast’s Traveler’s “Hot List Tables.” (Jet was at the helm since pre-opening until returning to Los Angeles in early 2012.)
In addition, Chef Tila has an active television career. When Travel Channel’s star culinary personality Anthony Bourdain profiled Los Angeles on the Emmy Award-winning “No Reservations,” Tila escorted him on a local’s tour of Thai Town. The highlight of Tila’s blossoming TV career to date was his appearance on Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” last year crossing knives with the feared Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto in Kitchen Stadium for “Battle Seaweed.” The show runner for “The SoCal Restaurant Show” is veteran specialty radio show producer Andrew Harris who is also an accredited food, wine & travel journalist.
David Baronfeld, General Manager of AM 830 KLAA noted, “I’m eagerly anticipating “The SoCal Restaurant Show” because it will offer our listeners a fresh, fun, behind-the-scenes perspective with revealing insights from restaurant pros simply not heard anywhere else.”
AM 830 KLAA is a locally owned and operated 50,000 watt radio station serving Southern California. Since 2006 the station has been owned by Arte Moreno, owner of the Los Angeles Angels, and serves as the flagship radio station for Angels Baseball and the Anaheim Ducks.
