Rays, Angels swap De La Rosa, Geltz

The Rays and Angels swapped Minor League right-handers on Wednesday, with Tampa Bay acquiring Steve Geltz from Los Angeles for Dane De La Rosa.

The Rays will assign the 25-year-old Geltz to Triple-A Durham after the Angels had outrighted him to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday. Geltz pitched two innings for the Angels last season but split most of his time between Salt Lake and Double-A Arkansas, going 3-1 with a 3.05 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 59 relief innings.

De La Rosa came into Rays camp as a non-roster invite but was reassigned to Triple-A Durham on Saturday. The 30-year-old had short stints with Tampa Bay in both of the past two seasons, compiling a 10.95 ERA. He posted a 2.79 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for Durham in 2012.
