Angels claim lefty reliever Carson from Mets
By Alden Gonzalez / MLB.com
The Angels claimed left-hander Robert Carson from the Mets on Thursday.
Carson, 24, compiled 31 appearances out of the Mets' bullpen over the last two years, posting a 6.82 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP and a 1.18 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 33 innings. Originally a 14th-round Draft pick in 2007, Carson was a starting pitcher in the Mets system until being moved to the bullpen at the start of 2012.
In Triple-A this past season, the Mississippi native had a 4.06 ERA and saved 11 games in 43 appearances.
The Carson acquisition, occurring two weeks after the Angels claimed right-handed reliever Josh Wall from the Marlins, puts the Halos' 40-man roster at 37 players.
