The Phillie Phanatic is the star of children's books and as a result has turned his love of reading into the exciting Be a Phanatic About Reading literacy program presented by Comcast. Founded in 2004, the program encourages students in grades K-12 to read for a minimum of 15 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills. Area teachers can enroll their classrooms now and join the nearly 50,000 already reading with the Phanatic!
For information on how your classroom can be a part of Be a Phanatic About Reading during the 2015-2016 school year, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The program is divided into two levels: one for children in grades K through 3 and the other for grades 4 through 8. Children will be asked to spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day reading whatever book they select. Younger children will be given Phanatic coloring sheets to color in once they have attained their goal while older children will be asked to record the book they read and write a few sentences on their favorite part of the book. The Phillie Phanatic will make a special visit to the top performing schools. To qualify for a Phanatic visit, children will report their progress to their teachers who in turn will tell the Phillies how the children have done in their reading endeavors. From that progress report, schools will be selected for a school visit.
The Phanatic does not want you to miss out on the fun that the 2015/16 Be a Phanatic About Reading program has to offer. For information on how to register, e-mail email@example.com or call 215-463-1000.

On Friday, May 29, 2015 during the 7:05 p.m. game against the Colorado Rockies, The Phillies and the Phanatic hosted their annual Be a Phanatic About Reading Literacy Night presented by Comcast. Fans 14 and under received a copy of the The Phillie Phanatic's Spring Training, the newest book in his children's book series. Students, teachers and parents involved in the Be a Phanatic About Reading program received an $8 discount off tickets in locations regularly priced $47 and under.
As part of the night, the Phanatic celebrated the 10 Most Improved and 10 Most Outstanding Readers in the program during a special onfield pregame ceremony.
Fans helped children across the region enjoy reading a little bit more by donating a new or gently used children's book, benefitting PHILADELPHIA READS, when they entered the gates.
This program has been terrific for reluctant readers. It has been especially rewarding for students that were not motivated readers. It has been rewarding to watch these young readers become more fluent readers.
I used the reading program as an incentive to motivate my students to read. The program was just, simply, fun! Everyone loves the Phanatic and anything to do with him.
I have used the program since September. My students have actively kept the reading log to show their reading. Thank you very much. I will look forward to doing this awesome program again next year.
I would like to commend you and the Phillies organization for taking part in such an important area of student development. As a Reading Specialist, I am thrilled to see organizations that kids so passionately care for develop programs to encourage the whole child! I am equally as impressed with the knowledge of reading research that is included in your letter.
Thank you for providing my class with this opportunity. They are really enjoying the challenge. I am proud to see that I am seeing many of my students showing a greater interest in reading.
If you don't see your School District, enroll your school and your district will be added to the list!
The Phanatic's favorite thing to do is to cheer on the Phillies but reading a good book is a close second. The Phanatic is always looking for a new book that he can curl up with and welcomes your suggestions. Share what you like to read by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the book's title, author and a description of why you love the book. If you do, you could find your recommendation on the Phanatic's Book Corner.
Make sure to check out all the books in the Phanatic book series including the newest book, "The Phillie Phanatic's One-Man Band." The book details how the Phillie Phanatic and his musical friends came to the rescue to keep the Phillies and their fans rockin' and rollin' during another memorable night at the ballpark.
