MANAGING CAREER
Begins his third season as Brewers manager.....was named the 18th manager in franchise history on 11/4/10, replacing Ken Macha...Signed a contract extension through the 2014 season with a club option for 2015 on 5/8/12...Was named to the 2012 National League All-Star coaching staff by manager Tony LaRussa...In 2012 joined George Bamberger (1978-79) and Tom Trebelhorn (1987-88) as the only managers in franchise history to post winning records in consecutive full seasons.....no Brewers manager has ever had three consecutive winning seasons...2011 marked his fi rst season as a Major League manager...Finished second in 2011 National League Manager of the Year voting behind fellow fi rst-year skipper Kirk Gibson (Arizona)...Led the Brewers to their fi rst division title since 1982 as the team went 96-66 in 2011 with a franchise record for victories.....also led the team to its fi rst postseason series win as the Brewers advanced to the 2011 NLCS vs. St. Louis after defeating Arizona in the NLDS...Owns a career record of 346-283 (.550) as a minor-league manager in the Dodgers (1994-95, '97-98) and Giants (1999) organizations...Was named California League Manager of the Year in 1995 at Class-A San Bernardino and Texas League Manager of the Year in 1997 at Double-A San Antonio, guiding both teams to league championships.

Served as a Major League coach for LA of Anaheim from 2000-10...Was third base coach for the Angels from 2000-05 and bench coach from 2006-10...Spent two seasons (1992-93) on the Dodgers' coaching staff, positioning outfi elders as the eye in the sky...Served as hitting coach at Triple-A Albuquerque in 1996

PLAYING CAREER
The former outfi elder played eight seasons in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles (1981-83), Seattle (1983), San Diego (1984), San Francisco (1985), Philadelphia (1986-87) and Cincinnati (1988)...Batted .238 with 17 HR and 113 RBI in 527 career games...Was a member of the 1984 National League Champion Padres, appearing in two World Series games vs. Detroit.

PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS
Is married.....wife's name is Karen.....the couple has a son named Lance, who was an outfi elder at UC-Santa Barbara and currently plays in the Brewers organization...Graduated from Edgewood (CA) High School, where he played baseball, football and basketball...Earned All-League and All-Valley honors in baseball and football and All-League in basketball while in high school...Attended Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA from 1975-76 before transferring to UCLA in 1977...His brother, Gary, was also a Major League outfi elder, playing 12 seasons with Montreal (1976), Baltimore (1978-85), New York-AL (1986) and Atlanta (1987-88)...Enjoys woodworking, golf, fishing and hunting.
