Vladimir Alvino Guerrero...Dominican Republic celebrated national holiday in 2004 off-season in honor of his MVP award... Honored with 2004 Victor Award as best baseball player, beating out Barry Bonds and Albert Pujols...Honored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for his work with granting wishes for children with terminal illnesses...Teamed up with David Ortiz and Bartolo Colon to donate $50,000 each to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort in September 2005...Involved with Padres Contra El Cancer, a support group for Latino children with cancer and their families...His family business, 'Los Hermanos Guerrero' (The Guerrero Brothers), provides several job opportunities in his hometown of 12,000 in Dominican Republic: a cement-block factory, a propane distributorship, a supermarket, livestock and vegetable farms, a seafood distributor and a women's clothing store...Featured in national Pepsi ads that debuted in 2005 with NASCAR's Jeff Gordon, MLS' Freddy Adu and X-Games athlete Shaun White...Also featured on cover of MLB 2006 video game for PlayStation2...Instituted "Vlad's Pad" at Angel Stadium in which he donated over ■■ 100 tickets for every Angels' home game to local charities and youth groups...With Expos, hosted 30 under-privileged kids every Sunday the team played at Olympic Stadium, providing them with free lunch and VIP tickets...One of nine children...Lived with mother and brother Wilton when brothers both played in Montreal...There are usually anywhere from 20-25 family members in Anaheim during the season...Signed by Expos' scouts Fred Ferreira and Arturo DeFreites.

Had one of greatest half-season performances in 10-year history of Dominican Summer League, hitting .424 with 12 HR and 35 RBI (.935 slg. pct.) in 25 games, prompting Expos to move him to Rookie Gulf Coast team in Florida...Was named TOPPS Player of the Month for August after batting .288 with five doubles, four HR and 14 RBI...Tied for third among GCL hitters in extra base hits (21) and tied for fifth in doubles (13)...Named GCL MVP.
